The Atikokan Tourist Information Center on the south side of the road. Be sure to stop and chat with the attendant to find out about local attractions and the short nature and walking trail located nearby.
Bunnell Park campground offers a viewing station. Visit the old Steep Rock Mine north west of town.
Wall murals in town depict the mining history of Atikokan. The Pictograph Gallery displays local arts and crafts. The Atikokan Centennial Museum and the Atikokan Mining Attraction are nearby. Fletcher Canoes build fine cedar and canvas canoes. Fletcher Canoes welcomes visitors. Visit Souris River Canoes makers of Kevlar shells. Paddles are made at the XY Company for. North of Atikokan on Highway 622 is the old Caland Pit Mine and Ontario Hydro's coal powered thermal generating station. Advance notice needed to arrange tours. Fifty kilometres north is Clearwater Lake and the famous White Otter Castle. Day trips to the castle are available.

Atikokan Canoefest - A summer festival held annually during the 3rd week in July. The popular celebration is organized by the Atikokan Chamber of Commerce, with participation from many other local groups and businesses. Bring your entire family and take part in the wide variety of races, games and events involving canoeing, kayaking and all things outdoors. See Canoefest Events Schedule
Atikokan Bass Classic.com - A Small Mouth Bass fishing tournament, which takes place on Dashwa, Crowrock and Turtle Lakes annually in Aug.
The Atikokan Bass Classic is a Small Mouth Bass fishing tournament, which takes place on Dashwa, Crowrock and Turtle Lakes. This chain of pristine northern waters has an abundance of big scrappy smallies. Anyone who loves to fish can enter the competition. The top five teams will be awarded cash. $10,000 based on fifty participating teams. Few anglers will go home without a prize.
Atikokan Adventure Race.com The Adventure Race course will be designed and tested by Garth Stromberg.
A Local Outfitter and Guide for over 20 years, Garth also designed the Adventure Race Course for the 2003 24 Hour Atikokan Adventure Race and Co Designer of Raid the North Extreme 2003 with Dave Zeitsma of Frontier Adventure Racing. The course will be approximately 150 Km in length. It will consist of a multi choice canoe section, bush crashing navigation, trekking, fast pace x-Country mountain biking, and all in a wilderness location. Teams must be in Atikokan Friday May 21st @ 2:00pm for mandatory gear check!
The Canoeing Capital of Canada. Atikokan is the gateway for Quetico Provincial Park. You can rent canoes by the day or the week from a variety of outfitters who will provide you with all the information you need for a great canoe trip.
